Doi Inthanon National Park

Directions:	From Chiang Mai, take highway 108 towards Chom thong. At km 57 (1 km before Amphur Chomthong) take a right turn to highway 1009 (the Chomthong - Doi Inthanon Road). At km 31 of this road is the park's headquarters.

Information: Historically, the mountain of Doi Inthanon was refered to as Doi Ang Kha. Prince Intharawichayanon, the last ruler of Chiang Mai, realized the importance of the country's forests especially those in the north where they serve as the sources of headwaters for much of the country. He helped support people to study the areas. He requested that his remains be placed on the summit of Doi Ang Kha. After his death, the mountain was renamed Inthanon, a shorten version of his name. Today, visitors to the summit can see the remains of the prince there.

Doi Suthep-Pui National Park

Directions:	Go by public transportation 16 km along the Hueygaow road until you reach Phrathat Doi Suthep temple. Just a little way past the temple on the right hand side of the road there is a sign which indicates the way to the park office.

Information: In 1981 Doi Suthep national park in Chiang Mai was registered as the country's 24th national park. In the following year additional areas were annexed to the park, bringing the total area to 261 square kilometers.

The topography of Doi Suthep is high mountains composed of many ridge systems. The prominent peaks are Doi Suthep, Doi Pui and Doi Buagha. Doi pui is the highest at 1,658 maters above sea level. The park serves as the source of headwaters for the Ping river tributaries.

The high topography of the park means that the climate is cool year round. The average temperature is 16ºC. Moist and cool air is indicative of the rainy season which peaks in August and September. In February, the air is crisp and clear and the landscape is sharply visible from the parks viewpoints.

Hill evergreen, dry dipterocarp, mixed deciduous, and pine forest are all represented in Doi Suthep.

Deer, monkeys, macaques and over 200 kinds of bird species are found, including cagles, jungle fowl, orioles, woodpeckers, and drongos.

Ob Khan National Park

Directions:	From Chiang Mai city travel to Hang Dong district (to the south) for 15 km. Turn right (to the west) into the road: Nam Prae - Ob Khan and drive for 11 km, along Mae Khan river, to get to the park's headquarters.

Information: This park is located on the left side of the Khan River at Namprae. This scenic route hugs the irrigation canal to Hang Dong road for about 15 kms. Then turns right on the Namprae, Ob Khan road for about 11 kms. The geographical features of the National Park mostly consist of high mountains. Yod Khun Tien is the highest mountain of the National Park, with an altitude of 1,550 metres.

Camping facilities with food and beverage available from 08.00 to 18.00. From two paths, visitors can take in all the natural beauty of this area. The National Park has beautiful natural tourist attractions and a great variety of interesting plants and wild animals A sightseeing information centre with 24 hour guard is provided.
